The Senior Women's 1st XV travelled to Greystones in their maiden game of the Leinster League.
It was a very wet day, with the rain never letting up. Both teams had to adapt their game plan accordingly. Navan were trying to find their groove into the game. The first score of the game didn't come until the 23rd minute when 𝗠𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗙𝗶𝘁𝘇𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗱 burst over the try line after some earlier smart thinking. 𝗖𝗶𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗵𝘂𝗻𝘁 added the extras.
The conditions worsened but neither team backed down. Greystones moved the ball and carried very well, putting Navan on the back foot at times. Just before half time 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲 had another impressive carry and this time Navan got another score on the board crucially just on the half time. 𝗜𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗼𝗻 had a number of cutting lines from full back and just after half time managed to slice her way through the Greystones defence.
Navan were beginning to settle into the game and find their rhythm. 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲 again through her dynamic footwork continued to cause issues in the Greystones defence, and was rewarded for her second try of the day. As a result of good carries and quick ruck ball 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗻 crossed for her first try of the season in the 57th minute. 𝗜𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗼𝗻 got through for her second try of the day after a strong run down the left wing.
Navan were putting on pressure with some very good defensive line speed. This paid off coupled with good counter rucking by 𝗞𝗮𝘆𝗹𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 enabled the turnover ball for 𝗙𝗶𝘁𝘇𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗱 to bag her second try of the day.  A good carry by 𝗔𝗼𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗥𝘆𝗮𝗻 was offloaded to 𝗔𝘃𝗮 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗻 who found 𝗘𝗺𝗺𝗮 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗯𝘆 in open space. Looby composed herself and released 𝗙𝗶𝘁𝘇𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗱 again for her to get her third of the day.
The Navan women continued in the last quarter to put pressure on. Some very intelligent rugby and good carries in the Greystones 22 allowed the ball to travel to the wing to give 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 her first try of the League campaign.
