Navan Senior Men’s team secured a dominant 41-7 victory over Buccaneers at Dubarry Park, Athlone, in round eight of the Energia All-Ireland League Division 2A. The result marked an important milestone in Navan’s season as they climbed to eighth in the league standings.
The Meath side set the tone early, racing to a 19-0 lead with tries from captain Evan Dixon and a brace from Cormac Horan with two conversions by outhalf Tom Gavigan.
Buccaneers responded with a converted try midway through the first half, but Navan maintained control, leading 19-7 at the break.
The second half saw Navan extend their dominance. Forwards Tom Ciot, James Wyse, and Gary Faulkner all crossed the try line, while Cormac Horan completed a memorable hat-trick. Gavigan added a third conversion, ensuring a bonus-point win for Navan.
The result not only moved Navan up the league standings but also provided a morale boost ahead of their final match of the calendar year. They will host Ballymena at Balreask Old next Saturday, 14th December, with a 2:30pm kick-off.
