Navan U13 Boys travelled to Stevenson’s Park on Saturday for what proved to be a thrilling and hard-fought contest, edging out Dungannon 38–33 in a dramatic game of two halves.

Navan made a blistering start, striking immediately from the kick-off when Tadhg Sheridan gathered superbly to touch down for the opening try. With momentum behind them, Navan controlled the first half through excellent handling and sustained pressure.

Two well-taken tries from Casey Reynolds, along with further scores from Freddie Kearns and Shay Smyth, pushed Navan into a commanding position. At the interval, the visitors led 31–7 after a dominant display.

The second half, however, saw a resurgent Dungannon mount a powerful comeback, crossing for four converted tries to close the gap to just five points. Navan were forced to dig deep, showing composure under pressure, and responded with the decisive score — a crucial try from Freddie Davis, which proved enough to keep Navan ahead to the final whistle.

Navan held firm in a tense finale to secure an excellent 38–33 victory.

Player of the Match: Conor Lyons – outstanding positional play, strong tackling and assured distribution.

Captain: Freddie Kearns – led superbly and contributed an important first-half try.

Notable Mention: Eoghan Clarke, making his first start, delivered a hugely impressive performance in the front row across the full match.

Post-match, both teams shared food and hospitality in the clubhouse, where Navan presented a token of appreciation to the Dungannon coaches. Discussions for future U12 and U14 fixtures were welcomed by both clubs. The squad then continued their day by travelling on to support Navan’s senior team in Clogher Valley — rounding off a memorable day of rugby for players and families alike.
